Brief About Davangere District
Davanagere is one of the major cities in the Indian
state of Karnataka. Previously known for its Cotton mills, it is
fast developing into one of the major cities of Karnataka. Davanagere
was famous for textiles. It is also famous for its educational institutes.
It has two medical colleges, three engineering colleges and a number
of other colleges offering courses in arts, commerce and science.
The student population is made up of the people from different cities
and states in India. There are a limited number of foreign students
studying at Davanagere
Geography
Davanagere lies in the borders of deccan plateau,
Just above the historic Chitradurga. The prominent cities/towns
in this district are Harihara, Honnali and Chennagiri. Neighbouring
Districts are Shimoga, Haveri, Chitradurga and Bellary. Davanagere
has Chigeteri mills.
Regional
Davanagere was previously under Chitradurga district.
But, later on, it was split into an entirely new district with Davanagere
made its capital, for administrative ease. Davanagere is very popular
for its textiles. Davangere is world famous for its snack called
Masala Mandakki and Butter Dosa. You cannot find these dishes made
tastefully in any part of the world. No matter, whoever visits Davanagere,
they will sure have the taste of these dishes.
