Anand District Information
Anand is known as the Milk Capital of India. It became famous for
Amul dairy and its Milk revolution.
As of 2001 census, Anand had a population of 130,462. Males constitute
52% of the population and females 48%. Anand has an average literacy
rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5% (55% of the
males and 45% of females literate). 11% of the population is under
6 years of age.
But, when one talks of living life king-size, no
district can beat Anand "placed in the land of milk and tobacco"
with most of its houses having members staying abroad. The district
has the highest number of households where people stay in houses
with six or more rooms, the percentage being 2.2. It also tops the
chart in having the most number of houses with five rooms with 1.8
per cent of houses surveyed showing the trend, pushing cities like
Anand (1.7 per cent) and Vadodara (1.6 per cent) in the second and
third slots respectively.
